Telecom Italia is the first Global Service Partner of Expo Milano 2015

On 16th May Mr. Marco Patuano, CEO of Telecom Italia Company, and Giuseppe Sala, CEO of Expo 2015 Company, signed the partnership for the ITC project of Expo Milano 2015. Telecom Italia became the first global service partner with an exclusive for connectivity and integrated services.

The partnership, worth 43 million euros, is aimed to turn the exposition site into the first Smart City of the future. Telecom Italia will provide access infrastructures to fixed and mobile networks and to data based on the latest technologies such as XG-PON for optical fiber networks, LTE for wireless communication, Cloud Computing, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, NFC (Near Field Communication), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) e PLC (Power Line Communication).  Technology will be integrated with the sustainability: for example, the PLC technology will allow a remote management of public lighting systems, energy and environment monitoring and provide other high tech solutions such as digital signage. Moreover, the technological partner will contribute to the creation of a website, accessible to fixed and mobile devices, which allow the online purchase of the ticket, the virtual visit of the exhibition site, the possibility to customize the itinerary on the site. On the exhibition site, Telecom Italia will provide services of telemedicine to check physiological parameters of the visitors in order to operate immediately if necessary, and edutainment platforms to involve schools in the event.
