Presentation of the First Edition of the International Participants Meeting

The International Participants Meeting is one of the most important events that Italy, as the Host Country of the Universal Exposition, has to organise in cooperation with the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions) in the years preceding the 2015 Event

The Meeting, whose 2011 edition will be held in Milan and Como (Villa Erba) from October 25 to 27, is a crucial stage for the early engagement of the Participants, who will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Exposition’s concept.

Furthermore, the International Participants Guide will be presented at the Meeting, offering essential support to Participants who, in addition to being updated on the advancement of the project, will be provided with the necessary information on the participation procedures.

In view of the 2011 edition of the Meeting, Countries have been encouraged to respond formally to the Official Letter of Invitation signed by the Italian Prime Minister and to date over 50 Countries have confirmed their participation to Expo Milano 2015.

In addition to Official Participants (Countries and International Organisations), Expo Milano 2015 has also extended the invitation to the Meeting to various categories of  Non-Official Participants, whose presence at the recent Universal Expositions has gradually increased: hence, representatives of companies, Civil Society Associations, International Regions and Italian Institutions have also been involved.

The Meeting is organised around a series of plenary sessions explaining the general contents of the Event and technical workshops that will focus on the participation procedures and on the organisation of the Exposition.

The First Meeting, which will be widely followed by the press and media, will be an exceptional opportunity to boost marketing and to stimulate the public's enthusiasm and expectations towards the Universal Exposition.
