Germany, signed the contract with Expo 2015. The German pavilion is one of the largest

Germany has formalized its presence at Expo Milan 2015. This morning the Federal Republic of Germany signed the participation contract of the Universal Exposition which will be organized in Milan from 1st May to 31st October 2015. The official signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of Expo 2015 S.p.A. in Milan.

The contract was signed by Dietmar Schmitz, General Commissioner of the German Pavilion, and by Giuseppe Sala, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2015 S.p.A., in the presence of the General Commissioner of Expo Milano 2015, Roberto Formigoni.

Today’s signature represents an important new step towards the realization of the 2015 Universal Exposition. Germany is internationally recognized as an economic and political beacon and thus its location within the Expo site will reflect this. Indeed, Germany has reserved the largest plot on the Expo site covering 4913 square metres.

“The contract that we are signing today is of extraordinary importance especially in the current historical situation that we are experiencing – declared Mr. Roberto Formigoni, General Commissioner of Expo Milano 2015 -. Such an important country as Germany has decided to invest in Expo Milano 2015 because it considers it to be a unique opportunity for its growth and an exceptional opportunity to showcase German excellence. It is a sign of great confidence in the Milan Exposition and, in particular, of interest in the theme ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’. I am sure that the German pavilion will provide content of the highest value and quality on the theme. Today’s signature is highly symbolic, because it helps to further strengthen the very positive relations between Italy and Germany and to relaunch our mutual viewpoints in these difficult times”.

“As active and dedicated members of the global community and EXPO sector, it goes without saying that Germany will take part in every World Exhibition authorised by the BIE Bureau International des Expositions (International Exhibitions Bureau) – Mr. Dietmar Schmitz, Commissioner General of Section (German Pavilion), explained -. At the 2015 EXPO, we will once again boast one of the largest pavilions. We intend to demonstrate our country’s extraordinary capabilities and outstanding expertise in Milan, yet the German pavilion will also show that we are cosmopolitan and creative people – with a good sense of humour.”

“In this phase, our operational activities with the participating countries  are becoming more and more concrete – said Mr. Giuseppe Sala, CEO of Expo 2015 S.p.A. “Today’s signature is an excellent example of this.  Germany will have a fundamental role within Expo Milano 2015. We are certain that the German Pavilion will supply a very original interpretation of the theme Feeding the Planet, Energy for life. Today’s signature is one of the most important milestones with which to start the International Participants Meeting which will be held next month in Milan. Indeed the IPM will be the occasion during which many countries will sign their participation contracts”.
