Institutional logo - Vitruvian Man

The emblem of Milan Expo 2015 is the universally renowned Vitruvian Man by Leonardo da Vinci, a symbol of mankind’s position at the heart of world dynamics. Da Vinci is the humanist scientist par excellence, an all-round man of genius who spent much of his life in Milan, pioneering methodical scientific research into the human body and leaving behind him an inexhaustible source for both artists and engineers. He stands eternally as an inspiration for anyone who sees personal well-being as the vital spark in the life of a community.

BIE official registration has been confirmed. Expo 2015 has launched the Competition of creative ideas for the new logo, involving students and post graduates from Art and Design Schools, Architecture, Fashion, Industrial design and Graphic Publicity sectors. Students enrolled in the competition and sent projects until 31 January 2011. During the first competition stage, 710 proposals have been submitted. The jury, presided by Giorgio Armani, evaluated the projects and, afterwards, it could be possible to vote the two best proposals on the website www.expo2015.org. Online voting has been closed on May 22. The winning project is Andrea Puppa’s multi-coloured writing, which has obtained 4747 votes, while Alice Ferrari’s egg has received 2622 votes.
